IMPORTANT - FOR THE FIRST BURN OF ALL SOY CANDLES

Soy candles have a 'memory'. So it is very important to make sure that you give it a 'memory burn' the first time you use it. To do this, you will need to ensure you burn the candle until it is able to form a full melt pool that extends to the sides of the jar. Doing this also increases the scent throw of the candle. If a soy candle is not given a proper memory burn, meaning burning for too short a period, it will only burn down the center thereby creating a tunnel and a good scent throw will not be achieved.

A soy candle is made from wax obtained from the soy bean plant. Soy beans are non-toxic, natural, biodegradable and a renewable resource. A 100% pure soy candle also burns cleaner with little to no soot, slower, and at a lower temperature than petroleum (paraffin) based wax candles.

Our soy candles are proudly hand poured in small batches in Singapore at our studio office. We make sure to take the utmost care and attention to ensure consistency and quality.

We use only 100% USA made FDA approved natural soy wax, Australian made premium fragrance oils (blended with essential oils) that are RIFM and IFRA certified to be safe & pure and cotton braided lead-free wicks. All our candles are also phthalates-free, paraben-free, paraffin-free, animal cruelty-free and non-toxic.

To ensure the best performance possible in your candles, our candle fragrance oils are designed and developed in Australia and are completely vegan and animal cruelty-free. Essential oils by itself is not stable and sometimes do not blend well with wax nor give a good scent throw. Therefore we choose premium grade fragrance oils that contain a high percentage of essential oils blended with some synthetics (which aids the oils to bind to the wax) for a natural high quality scent. These oils adhere to RIFM and IFRA standards for safety and purity.

Our soy candles are made using the maximum allowable limit of fragrance oils that the wax is able to absorb. Some scents may be stronger than another, but this is due to the nature of that particular scent and not the strength of the fragrance oil itself. We pride ourselves that all our candles can be burned for up to 4 hours whilst releasing the fragrance slowly into the atmosphere, creating a comfortable and enjoyable ambience without feeling overpowering.

Soy wax in its natural state is dye free. Although candle dyes are beautiful, some dyes can release toxins and carcinogens into the air during the burning process. To keep our candles safe, we have opted not to add in unnecessary dyes into our candles merely for aesthetic purposes.

Because soy wax burns slower and at lower temperatures, we recommend burning the candles for a minimum of 1-hour. The optimal burn time will be between 2 hours to a maximum of 4 hours at a time. Doing so allows the candle fragrance to slowly fill the room and at the same time, it allows the soy wax to heat to the sides of the jar and burn down evenly with minimal wax residue. However, please ensure that you do not burn your candles for over 4 hours each time as that could result in overheating which may cause the glass container to break or shatter.

No candle is 100% soot-free all the time. To ensure our candles burn with minimal soot, we use only 100% pure soy wax, premium grade fragrance oils and lead-free cotton braided wicks. However, cotton wicks will smoke if not burned properly, or if the wicks are never trimmed.

Remember to trim any mushrooms that may develop and always trim your wick to around 0.5cm before the next burn and do not burn candles in a drafty area.

Store your candles covered with the lid provided in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Soy candles may change colours if exposed to intense light & heat for extended time periods.

Do not display your soy candles under sunlight, florescent lighting or other strong illumination as they will start melting if exposed to temperatures over 30 degrees celsius.

Occasionally, white marks may appear on soy candles. These white markings are called frosting and is a natural characteristic unique only to 100% pure soy wax. It is not a flaw and does not affect the scent throw or burning properties of the candle. Frosting is a particular crystal growth of vegetable oils. This can cause the candle to look like it's drying out but in actuality, this is just the characteristic of that crystal structure and has nothing to do with the candle "drying out".

Often times, customers will look out for this unique marking when purchasing soy candles as it is a way for them to know if the candle is made with pure, all-natural soy wax. It's all part of the soy experience.

Since soy wax has a lower melting temperature, it can release excess moisture and fragrance oils that it cannot hold due to extreme temperature changes for example during shipping. This is called "Soy Sweat" and it does not affect the burn quality and will generally not show up again after your first burn. You can either leave it or wipe it out with a tissue or paper towel.

Each fragrance type is made from different essential oils from different plants and essence material. These different materials cause each oil to be a different colour. Some oils (like citruses) have the ability to turn yellow easily whilst others (like vanillin) has a tendency to make a candle turn darker.

Be assured that this is a normal effect of these essential oils in soy wax and it does not affect the quality, consistency or performance of the candle.

Please feel free to drop off the used jars at any of our stockists or at our studio office and we will be glad to recycle them on your behalf. If you are not residing in Singapore or are unable to get the jars to us, you may consider dropping off the jars at a glass recycling plant.

Alternatively, we also encourage our customers to reuse the glass jars to store your trinkets, cotton puffs, stationery, and other small items.

To reuse the jars, fill a small pot half full with hot water, put the jar into the hot water and wait for the wax to dissolve. When the remaining wax has dissolved, discard the wax into the bin. Please do not pour wax into your sink or pipes. Also remove and discard the wick & wick holder. Now you can wash the jar with warm soapy water. Repeat washing with warm soapy water (if required) and you're done! Your jar is ready to be upcycled.

Generally it is recommended to use the candle within one year from the time you open the candle from its original packaging. Also do ensure that the candles are left covered with its lid when not in use, and stored in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
